Having problem adding a new NIC ( Chelsio T422 ) to a proxmox server (Solved)

So, I have recently bought a Chelsio T422 and installed it on my Proxmox server. I can see all the interfaces in lspci output, but I don’t see any network interface when I check ip a s or ip link, or even /sys/class/net.

Haven’t run into anything lik this before, and can’t really find anything online either. Don’t know what to do? Any hint would really appriciated.

What is enp9s0, your new or old NIC?

If new, did you edit ‘/etc/network/interfaces’?

If old nic, then that is weird. Is the new NIC set to some weird non-Ethernet mode in firmware or something?

it’s the onboard NIC.

well, turns out they do show up in the pass-through devices, but how can I have them get loaded on the host machine?

Also, why only 3 Ethernet Controllers? shouldn’t it be 4? I bought this used from ebay. Could something possibly be wrong with the card?

:frowning: tried to pass it to a VM to see if I can use it there, the server ( Proxmox ) froze right after that, and now it freezes right after boot every time. I am thinking the only way to recover the server is to actually physically remove it from the server.
