Hateful against Samsung

Hello world,

I am furious.

Back story,
In 2021 I upgraded from S10 to S21 because the company was going to cover 400 of it. Well I got laid off before they did.
2022 I was looking into further removing dependency on Samsung services as per a research paper they spied on the users more than Google and others. So I went ahead and checked out what unlocking does. And I proceeded. I set a new pin and a few days later at a festival with basically no sleep I absolutely can’t remember it anymore so I loose contact details of friends that I made on the way. So now I feel like the a*hole for not contacting back.
I get back home and my phone falls quite a bit and the screen breaks. I get it to repair and they fix it. I notice my front camera doesn’t work. I know that has happened before with Samsung phones so I go to their repair center. They look at it and take it in for “repair”.
I get a week later the information to come pick it up and it’s not fixed. And they return me the phone with a broken screen.
They tell me to file a complaint at the complaint office and I do.
2023 I get informed that they didn’t have the phone in repair and therefore did not break the screen. It’s a blackspot that was next to the front camera that has been ever growing.
2024 October, now I bottom speaker doesn’t work. And I did restart the phone and another time kept it shut down for a bit.
2025 January, now some weeks ago my top speaker quality has dropped drastically when on max or close to max volume, having it on loud as I don’t hear anything from the bottom speaker.

I could go to small claims court but I don’t have any evidence that they had the phone there. They took the repair paper back when I got my phone and I couldn’t take a photo of it.

Let’s say I don’t wish anything good for them. Being a cartell in their own country and all.

Short rant aside, I really want another phone so I don’t need to think about this ordeal whenever I see the black hole slowly swallowing the whole screen. But I don’t have enough money to get something good. As I often take qualitative photos.

Yeah, I guess my experiences have not been great in the last couple of years…

My family has had at least 2 samsung phones die of heat during our summer vacations during the last 3 years…

Also, my phone screen has been acting up with random flickering. I haven’t bothered taking it to the reseller, since I cannot really replicate it. Same thing that is a feature of my samsung smart TV for most of its life. It went in to replace everything but the speakers and the panel and the problem still persisted. RN considering honestly picking something else for my next phone, once my current device dies. Sadly no-one else offers the same sweetspot of features at a reasonably simular price here.

Sony Xperia is decent if you want a camera phone, otherwise Nexus is still a thing I think.

And of course, Apple is happy to take your money for a Flawless™ experience¹.

¹ The cake is a lie, and so are Apple’s claims of having impeccable tech that never breaks down

I’ve thought about Graphene and pixel.
Apple doesn’t have all the apps I like and I really don’t like their “locked-down-ness”.

Yeah, I just managed to close a GDPR complait about the Apple working procedures, since they would not provide me with the proper information about my account status nor the correct specific resetting procedure for my account since I resetted my iphone for the next user whilst I also forgotted my Apple ID password.

And Yeah, I think they might actually have an illegal procedure, that they will not directly provide the user with a copy of all their information upon request, which is against the GPDR :joy:

The stupid thing about GDPR is that it took me honestly over a year with my initial complait getting processed in Finland to actually receiving the correct instructions from apple through the Irish DPC. So yeah, I guess I have a history with apple.

I had a galaxy s2 way back in the day and it had issues i felt only a very low integrity penny pinching evil corp would have so i vowed to never get a Samsung again.

Every now and then i get tempted by the specs and friends positive experiences but i resist. Currently have a pixel so if i want to play with graphine later i can. I also wanted the great pictures and security updates but i really miss OnePlus.

I’ve used Graphene and it’s alright, but I don’t trust the developer of it. The guy has a massive ego and has done some sketchy things when talking to other people. I’d recommend going with Lineage atm

Now if you decide to go Pixel I’d be careful. I’ve had a lot of hardware/software issues with a Pixel 4a and then the Pixel 6a. I ended up going back to Samsung because of them.

I’m really hoping someone like Framework decides to go into the mobile phone market.

I had my fair share of Samsung in the past. Didn’t touch any of their products for at least 5 years now.

I’m married to my FairPhone4 and after years, it’s still like honey moon. Reasonable Android distro, no vendor bullshit and new battery is 20 bucks. My last two phones lasted ~7 years and eventually the battery died. I’m pretty sure I can get my baby to 10 years, as I can replace most parts.

I’ve thought about getting a fairphone but, I don’t want to create more ewaste, so I rather buy used. And most used are not fairphone as they last so long.

If you need a FairPhone in 2031, just send me a PM here in the forums  And I probably can give you a replacement USB-C plug for free as well. Clicked on the wrong thing in the store. Wanted a cable and got the USB-C port replacement part for people wearing down the port.

And no Bixby is anywhere to be found…these were horrible times. They now even have a Bixby button in case you missed the 1000 pop-ups and ads. Then there was dodgy SSD firmware on brothers PC…850 something…then I got a G9 display and TV phoning home until I told my firewall to keep the TV under control. Samsung is just work. If you’re unemployed or you’re bored and want something to fix, get Samsung…

No thank you, no Samsung for me. Only my G9 display is left and that’s “bearable”. But I’m glad I have a choice what to buy and get normal and sane hardware.

The only thing I might consider buying from Samsung is RAM and SSD…but even then I have to say I have not bought Samsung RAM or SSDs for quite a while.

Their SSD-firmware woes have soured Samsung for me completely.

Still got my Huawei p30 pro and have no need to upgrade. Nothing out there gets me wanting a new phone… The only thing I will need to do in the future is possibly get a new battery. I will most likely run this thing till I can’t anymore.

Yeah, I returned a 4TB 990 Pro a few weeks ago as it was maxing out at ~4.6 GB/s on Windows 11 23H2. I’ve found other drives see drops moving from Win 10 22H2 to 11 as well, but not nearly that badly.

I’ve been using my s9+ for six years and don’t have any complaints. Same story with the s-whatever I had before this.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

not disagreeing…I won’t be buying any PCIE4/5 Samsung Drives anytime soon.

Now some weeks my top speaker quality has dropped drastically when on max or close to max volume, as I don’t hear anything from the bottom speaker.
