Hi everyone,

The last month I received randomly (2 occasions so far) a message similar to the one below (second occurrence) on my notifications.

fedora kernel: mce: [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged
fedora kernel: [Hardware Error]: Corrected error, no action required.

fedora kernel: [Hardware Error]: Bank 19 is reserved.

While I am a daily linux user for the last or so year I am not experienced enough yet. I have been trying to understand what this error might mean but i have had not any luck yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to note that other than trying to figure out what this error might be I am trying to find any good documentation to better understand system messages in general. If you can point to any of those resources that would be helpful as well.

Linux fedora 6.6.13-100.fc38.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sat Jan 20 17:28:45 UTC 2024 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Did it start after a kernel update? I’ve had multiple “hardware errors” that started happening after a kernel update and were later fixed by another kernel update.

One way to test is to boot on an older kernel.

Well because the two incidents were quite far apart it could have been after a kernel update. I will keep monitoring if it happens again after a new kernel update or not. Thank you for your reply.
