Handheld Gaming PC - DIY

My budget is 4K. I want to build myself a neat handheld gaming computer which has a flip screen and a mini keypad and Xbox 360 controls (take apart buttons and joysticks from controller like analogue sticks and use them as mouse cursor) - Sort of like GPD WIN MAX but xbox 360 controller type were i get it’s left and right buttons in place of my handheld and the joy sticks as well.

The handheld should have the following specifications:

4 core cpu with 2 threads @ 2.0 GHZ or more
12GB or 16GB of DDR4 RAM 2400MHz or more
GPU should be integrated Vega 11 or higher AMD or Intel equivalent to Vega 11 or higher. No lower GPU like Vega 10 because it cannot run games like Battlefield 4 on high settings and many new release AAA games on high settings.
It should have support for USB 3.0, 2.0, HDMI output, Audio, Microphone Jacks, battery should be at least : 15,000 mAh battery 57Wh for 12 hours of game play like gpd win max users suggest. On youtube video i heard 15,000 mAh battery 57Wh battery will give us 13 hours of game play on balanced , on high performance 6 hours of game play. A QC charger like the GPD WIN MAX uses shall be used to charge the battery of this handheld or similar. This is an ultra charger (white QC charger) gpd win supplies to their consumers.

Well, please don’t tell me go buy gpd win 2 or max or smash z or portable gaming system because they although have quad core cpu, with 2 threads and 16GB of ram, their gpu is lower than VEGA 11 and the intel UHD 630 or Iris Plus GPU is not very good as the VEGA 11 GPU but is equal to Vega 10 but that can’t play games like battlefield 4 on high settings and on medium there is lots of low FPS.

I understand these days handhelds with windows 10 pro x64 cannot be perfect. I have neat understanding of the battery concept that ram, cpu and gpu will take loads of battery power. Even on reddit i heard battery problems. This guy he ordered a mini stx board from SAPPHIRE tech and he made a handheld but its too large and i need some hand held like gpd win max with 8" screen. It needs to have speakers and an enclosed case. My option is fanless without heatsink but with a thermal pad or a sleek fan on top with tiny heat sink. Not too bulky or large. I want the light weight battery option and portability. I have 3D printer so suggest case pictures please or your ideas. Please someone write a guide how to build one. I can use zotac mini pc or a pico itx motherboard or a mobile itx motherboard.

Hardware linked below. Could gut a Zotac and with a custom case could mount the display on top!

Is built for an external power supply (barrel jack) this makes adding a battery easier vs say an atx mobo!

Alternatively modify this battery enable VR backpack.

Can you let me know, what battery should i use to get 6-7 hours of game play on high performance if i want to run battlefield 4 on high settings and windows 10 pro x64 operating system?

I also wish to play new release AAA games.

Do you own a ZOTAC yourself or can you write step by step showing me how to take it apart and attach screen on it, connect the batteries and make custom case?

@raghavsood999 this sounds like a nice idea, and If I had the money to experiment, I would try to build something like this. There are some pitfalls Radhavsood999 will have to overcome.

  1. Game wirelessly.

  2. create a custom screen.

  3. how to connect everything up.

Good Luck I wish you well.

I don’t think the tech is there yet for what you want, OP, definitely not for playing AAA games.

This projects is going to need time and research, battery wise you need to pick the hardware and calculate the power requirements.

Here are some similar projects as inspiration:

What size screen, you’ll most likely need a 10in minimum to fit a 5x5 ministx board

Sapphire makes a nice board, you’ll want the V1807B APU https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/commercial/fs-fp5v

Perhaps the AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500U could be what you want, power-wise. Now we gotta wait to see which oem brings it to a mini-pc.
