Graphic card "life span"

Hi.

If i buy a 7870, how long do you think i would be able to play games on a 3570 non k version intel. Preferably on high settings

well, probably 2 years at most, depending on the game

^? It should last way longer that.... huh? What do you do to your video cards joe? edit: I actually read that wrong, but still way longer than what you said, depending on the games you're trying play. If you want to the "Witcher 3" on high settings with that in a few years no, but if you want to play COD type of games then you will be fine for a long time.

For getting every game on MAX, not very long... Two flagship cards will probably run every game on max for 3 years at most. I midrange card will probably only last a year.

as everybody above has said, it depends on what settings you play the games and how long your playing on it. a good way to increase the duration of your graphics card is by cleaning your case about each month, have it on high ground, and have the case organized to where their is a smooth airflow in it to incrase the lifespan of it. that dust is a pc killer yah know.

Im confused, the actual cards life span. As in how long it will work...? or work well with current games? It will probably operate for like 5 years no problem. Wont be much use then, but it will work.

Sorry for the confusion, yes i ment how long can i play games on high settings.

depends on the quality of the capacitors on the video card, when your video card dies it's usually capacitors that had blown. that is unless you friend the gpu overclocking or with heat.

It should last more than a couple years for playing games on High settings.  I have a 560 Ti, which is almost two years old, and I'm still able to play games on Ultra/High with no problems.  Honestly, I'm pretty sure I'll still be playing games on High well over a year from now.

People will always tell you that you need to upgrade, but screw that.  As long as you're still getting good performance on higher settings, stick with it :D

if you get an xfx radeon 7970 you get a lifetime warranty. ;p

I've been using a GTX 285 for nearly 4 years and can still play most games with high settings (Dx10@1920x1200) but for some games I have to use medium settings.

Im getting an asus 7970 top edition and i will be add another 1 around the middle of next year how long do you think untill i have to upgrade i would like to play on high settings

thanks people. I appreciate your comments. I will buy a graphic card some time early 2013. Only because i need to pass my exams to go university.

good luck
