I am looking to upgrade my GPU and I am not sure what would serve me best for the next 2-3 years. I have been looking at the 970 but I would like to know what others think would be best for me. Also my budget is $350 and my PSU is 650w. Oh and I would prefer a card that doesn't have a massive cooler.

I'd get a GTX 970, though that might not be enough to max out 1920x1200 at high framerates (96Hz+). Keep in mind that 290s, 290Xs, 390s and 390Xs will not contain RAMDACs, so they will be unless you are going to use a LCD with one. However, if you are sure that you have no need for analog output, I would recommend picking up two 290Xs used.
