Got my first Quad-Core CPU!

Got the i5-3570K. Everything is so much faster. PC boots at least 3 times faster. As soon as I sign in, I can open a program. Zipping and unzipping is SO much faster. Adobe programs run a lot faster. Rendering is like a bullet. Came from an i3-3240. Wonder what a 6-Core is like...

Congrats! Yeah, I love my 3570k. Snagged it from a dude on Ebay for $150.

Your old CPU probably had serious issues problems if your computer is now really booting that much faster.

It did. I was using it like it was quad-core. It gave up yesterday. Finally had an excuse to buy a new one.

welcome to the club

I remember my first quad core, the Q6600. That thing was awesome. But I was coming from an Athlon 64 so really anything would have seemed awesome :P

i stil have my core i3 4330 on my asus ROG maximus 6 impact. sadface

Must CPU soon.

the only quad core i have is on my NAS... lol.

I do use two dual core laptops at the same time, so i guess that's kinda, sorta, quad core... hehe

I'll just... sit here.

With my eight core.

My first quad core had 4 slots with CPU cartridges in them. Those good old PIII-era Xeons....

I'm still running my core 2 duo. Surprisingly this 8 year old processor can still handle games without bottlenecking (sometimes).

Ah yes, my very first quad core was also a Q6600. Beast of an overclocker... wish it were still alive today; I could have used it for a server or something.

Core 2 duo D: Pick up a qx6850! Got one of ebay for 40 bucks. was fantasic until i blew up my mobo xD

Sorry... What?

*yawn*

I was looking at getting one of the extreme processors but unfortunately I couldn't find any which costed less than $500, and I'm not even sure if my Asus p5kpl-cm could deliver enough power to the processor.

Edit: just went looking for some again and I found a few for less than $200 on eBay but I don't think it would be worth the price because o could get a brand new i5/8350 for that amount.

Look at the LGA 771 Xeons and consider the chip mod thing. Quad Xeons are considerably cheap in comparison providing you want to get a little dirty with the socket.

Woah I didn't even know this way a thing! Thanks! I'll be on the lookout for some of those xeons since I'm pretty sure my motherboard will support it ( Intel G31/ICH7 Chipset).

To OP: sorry for sorta hijacking your thread a bit.

Congrats. I can't wait to upgrade to an octo-core from my old quad-core.

Got my girlfriends dad a Core 2 Quad Extreme on ebay for like £41 last year, works like a charm!

All about luck on there though, you may get something amazing, you may get ripped off.
