Google's Android Secret Handshake Alliance

Oh lawd. I would hate to see Google become a monopoly in this industry. While locking down some apps makes sense, things like the launcher should be left open. There are rumors that is the next app to be locked down.

Thoughts?

The monopolization of internet or tec firms is something i could talk about all day.
In this case, The reason why Google wants to clamp down is because of all the crappy android OS out there "android samsung" and its apps to name the least,
Google its self has proven to either buy up (not a bad thing) or create apps that are top of its class.
i would like to see this as a good thing have the "open" android to the public so we can rom and all that fancy stuff, but the back bone of the OS and apps would be at a constant quantity.

I agree, I'm slightly sick of androids potential as a platform for many "higher end" apps or games being dampened due to so many OS variations. It wouldn't be too bad if the OEMs updated all phones to the latest version of Android, but no, that's too much to ask.

That being said, Google's approach to this just sounds very sinister to me. It kinda made me think twice about this company that I used to trust and admire... Let's not even start on the dumb YouTube policies.
