Good Car Head Unit?

I drive a 2000 Silverado and I currently have an old POS Panasonic head unit that doesn't even have a front auxiliary port. But idk anything about this stuff so I have no idea where to look for a better one and I don't want to spend a lot of money.

If it is of any importance I have two Memphis 10'' subs some old Memphis amp and the rest of the factory speakers were replaced with Alpines.

find a local car audio shop. They will be your best bet. Every city or town has at least one, small store full of car speakers.

Or check ebay for used head units.

I know where to get them, but I just don't know which models are good or not. And my local car audio shop is run by jerk offs who overprice everything.

I have a 96 GMC with this http://store.sony.com/cd-usb-receiver-w-pandora-sup-sup-control-zid27-CDXGT57UP/cat-27-catid-All-Car-Stereo-Receivers-Speakers?_t=pfm%3Dcategory

and it is pretty damn good for what I paid for it. Sony may be an evil company but they do actually have good audio stuff. Just stay away from their subwoofers, those are junk.

JVC, Pioneer, and Kenwood are good brands. You can use Crutchfield.com to shop for them. Just make sure you have the right tools to remove the old unit.

if you want the best quality headunit.

Then you want Alpine. ☺ also Pioneer is good.

Especialy for amps, most alpines have 2V or 4V rca´s for that. if you use very heavy amps / subwoofers, then 4 volts rca´s is basicly a must have. But 2V rca outs are also fine for most midrange amps / subs.

But what do you want for unit? single or dual din? dvd screen? navigation? bluetooth streaming capability?  etc etc... which feutures would you like? ☺

is the one i got, no cd drive (dont need one), has usb and bluetooth, rca sub outputs, can change the color to match your car's dash color. Just match it with a decent speaker and sub amp and you're ready to go. i would suggest whatever is the updated version as i got this in 2012

this is the 4 channel speaker amp i have, running strong since 2011

This Alpine would be a nice unit.

4v rca outputs for your amps, subwoofer rca output, with build in crossover filter. bluetooth, for calling, and streaming audio, aux imput, usb imput, etc etc.

what kind of speakers are you running? what are the speaker's RMS? that will determine what kind of power you need in your headunit.

I don't even know dude. My dad put all this stuff in here 3 years ago before he gave me the truck and we don't have any of the boxes. I really don't know what I have.

I'll try to find out more tomorrow when I get off work.

Eclipse headunits were some of the best a few years ago. They're still better than a lot of other brands out now days too. Here are some models.

CD7200 MKII

CD7100

CD5030

Or Alpine. Alpine makes one of the cleanest sounding decks out there. I've had the CDA-117, then side graded to the CDE149bt which I currently use. Bluetooth on no matter what headunit will sound like trash. It's best to use a usb stick or ipad/iphone.

It depends for what you are looking for. Single Din or Double Din? Pioneer have some of the best car head units in the market. JVC also produces good ones.
