For those who don't know, GNU Hurd is GNU's replacement for UNIX, or the Linux part of GNU/Linux* for what it's worth. GNU Hurd** has been in development since the dawn of the modern age but just hasn't gotten focused development. This is partially due to the fact that Linux overtook it despite many indepth arguments about the design of monolithic kernels versus microkernels. *Queue massive speculation and even more debate about whether microkernels are really better*
* "What you refer to as Linux is actually GNU/Linux..."
** "What you refer to as GNU Hurd is actually GNU Mach..."
Is there an actual working system with GNU Hurd? The answer is yes! Probably.
