Giant Dust Filter Sheet for a Case Built From Scratch

So to save money on my first build, Im thinking instead of buying a case, Im thinking of what luke is doing in the current season of scrapyard wars by putting everything on one piece of plywood/compressed wood. I have a piece of plywood like what hes using (and that size), but I want to create a dome or a cone of dust filter sheet over the whole thing (atleast the mobo + psu + gpu).

Understand it or not, think its crazy or not (I might vlog doing the project idk), I want to know if I can get a dust filter grade kind of sheet (like the ones in front of the fans in the fractal design node 202) in a large sheet. And where can I get my hands on one. I want it somewhat transparent too.

If you have any questions just ask them

yes you can (google is your friend) and they also sell them at building stores for air and heat systems, as well as various other types of machinery. you can just buy a sheet and cut to the size you want, then zip tie to the fan intake/outtake sections of your case on the outside. you might be able to do it from the inside too if you have enough clearance.

All I can find is the non transparent stuff, like the things yo uput in dryers to filter the lint out. Maybe I'm just blind or something.

Nylon stockings/pantyhose work fairly well in a pinch.

I would recommend using commercially available air system filters.

  1. cheap to replace
  2. high air flow
  3. good filtering
  4. standard sizes

you could go scrounge around an old electronics dump and see if you can find filters there and make shift them together
