Gaming Mice

I have looked at all the top gaming mice around the world. I know what's out there.  I want to some advice about which are good and which are really cheap knock offs. Which are the best bang for your buck. Aka you get what your paying for. I kind off half expect a sort of review not just "you should get this mouse because it's the best". Just tell me why it's worth paying for the mouse. I have medium size hands and this would be for not necessarily pro gaming, but for like streaming on twitch and stuff. I have also noticed from the reviews I watched that Logitech mice have that nice coating that doesn't get gamer grime.

I don't necessarily want like the highest best mouse on the market. It doesn't have to have 8200 dpi, but I still want a mouse that is very accurate and easy to use.

I thinking about getting the G500S Logitech gaming mouse. I would be willing to invest at least 100 dollars to this.

I want to get one thing off my chest: I personally have always hated Razer products, I felt they were overpriced and the "you must use Synapse with our products" thing urkes me right off.

I am also a palm gripper and basically play FPS games exclusively.

Alright, now that that's out of the way... Buy a Razer DeathAdder 2013. I have tried so so many mice over the years and until using this beast at a friend's place I didn't believe I would ever find a mouse I enjoy so much. I have never used a mouse this comfortable, this perfect in all my years. I am seriously in love with this thing. It is one of the best and cheapest gaming mice on the market. Bang for your buck, this thing blows anything out of the water as it is cheaper and better than anything else I have ever used.

I ended up buying a second one identical to the first just in case this one ever fails... Not that I expect it to.

depends on what games u play... if your big into mmo and need/want 10+ buttons your going to drop 100+... if you play fps and only need like 7 buttons about 60.  razer is a known brand but have a tendency to not last.  i use a steelseries sensei raw rubber and love it.  its kinda one of those close your eyes and pick kinda things.  if you have a store near you that sells one u are interested in id go there and see if you can get your hands on it and get a feel other then that have fun xD

If you play FPS I can recommend you the Zowie Ec1 eVo (or the Ec2 eVo if you have smaller hands)

It simply is a no BS mouse, it uses one of the most accurate sensors on the market, it has zero acceleration, it works driverless, it has all the functions you would ever need on a good mouse without any gimmicks (mouse buttons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1000Hz polling rate, a low LOD and a very good scrollwheel, that's it) It has very good ergonomics (if you want an ambidextrous mouse you could go with the AM or the FK) It feels absolutely solid, good build quality and a nice rubberized texture all over the mouse.

I've used it for half a year now and it still works flawlessly, it also comes with a second pair of teflon feet (which I didn't have to use even after 6+ months of daily use!) so you won't really have to think about buying another mouse for a pretty long time.

Depends on what you want the mouse for. For example I play starcraft II so I need a mouse that is extremely basic and I use the logitech g100s. I have had logitech mice before and they are very good in my opinion. The new generation of logitech mice are particularly good because of the build quality and the hydrophobic surface.

Everyone has their own view of what makes a good mouse. Different mice might be suitable for different kinds of game.

I've bought an Corsair M65 as I am a hybrid claw grip FPS player. I also play a lot of RTS games, but I think a mouse that is suitable for FPS is more important. A mouse would have a greater level of effectiveness in a fast paced game. I would use keyboard macros for most other genres.

I use a 1440p monitor, so higher sensitivity can be important, so that it doesn't take half a century to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the other.

I haven't tried the M65 yet. It was plauged by problems with its sensor. From what I have read, those appear to be fixed with updated firmware. Can't wait to try it.

I would be very wary of so called gaming mice, many of them have laser sensors which are not as accurate/consistent as optical sensors, some are wireless which introduce lag (delay), some tout all the buttons they have as features (which IMO are not all that necessary for FPS gaming).

In reality many of these companies are just making mice, sticking a few extra buttons on them, putting in some LEDS, making some bloated propriety user interface and sticking a 'gaming' label on it so they can sell mice for huge amounts of money.

Apart off picking up a gaming mouse is actually getting a feel for the mouse you prefer. Is there any way I can try out the mice, maybe even game with it to get a feel for the mouse? Are there any ways I can go about doing this?

If you're after a "basic" 5 button mouse then I'd go with the Razer Death Adder I used one daily for about 2 years without a problem. The Synapse software was horrid at first but it's really improved lately.

If you're after an MMO mouse then it's another vote for Razer. This time the Naga 2014. I've used the original Naga and Logitech G600 and didn't get one with them but the Naga 2014 takes the best features from both of these mice and puts them into one great package.

One major thing I have heard complaining about the Death adder is the gamer grime. I'm hesitant to go razer because this is my first gaming mouse. Another thing to consider is this is an optical mouse which means you have to invest in a good mouse pad.

I noticed that the Logitech g500s is the same price as the razer death adder. What do you guys think Is the g500s a good buy or would you go with the razer.

The g500 has been and continues to serve me well without any issues.  I would argue that lazer is inherently more accurate but has mouse acceleration which is not found in more traditional and less expensive optical mice.  Never touched a razer product though.

Had plenty of mice, from the Deathadder, Orochi, Mamba, Imperator, Lachesis, Logitech Performance MX, M705, and by a large margin, the Logitech G602 is my favorite, hands down.

Is 8200 dpi really that useable I have heard that everything over 2000 dpi isn't really needed. "It also doesn't make that much of a difference." If this is true would it not make sense to buy one that doesn't have as much dpi if I'm really not going to use it.

I play fps games at 1440p on 400 dpi. Take from that what you will. I currently use the razer deathadder, but I've also had the gigabyte m6800 and its pretty good for the price. Honestly, people make a big deal out of gaming mice when its really not. I gamed on a default acer mouse competitively for years.

So did your death adder help you preform better in any way at all?

My vote goes for G400/G400s. Both have pretty much flawless sensors at 400-800 dpi, with still excellent performance up to 2000 or so, if you ever need to go that high. Like another poster wrote, I would, too, stay away from laser sensors if you are FPS player. Inherent acceleration that the laser technology has, is no good for consistent aim. If you need a lot of buttons on the mouse for MMO's or whatever, then laser is probably your only option.

Other well performing mice are the Deathadders and Zowies, though I have heard that Razer's products are somewhat more unreliable and the warranty service is not good, Razer often simply refusing to replace a faulty mouse.

I can vouch for Logitechs warranty, as they just send me new mouse for a minor problem with one of the buttons. I didn't even need to return my old mouse to them.

PS. yes, 8200 dpi is just ridiculous. Most "pro" FPS players play at 400 or 800 dpi, though they also tend to use low resolutions. I personally play at 800 dpi for most games @ 1900x1200 resolution, but I sometimes have to drop the dpi to 400 if the game doesn't have low enough sensitivity setting for the ~40cm/16 inch full turn radius I like to play at. Can't say I've noticed any difference in accuracy.

I picked up the corsair m65 from bestbuy on sale and i love it. It has all the buttons i need as an fps player and it has 2 buttons on the side that i can use to go forward and back in  web browsers

G9x and G500s, Logitech in my opinion does not get the love it deserves. Most people I know brush them off as shit, budget stuff and I can say that I will choose Logitech mice over Razer mice any day

I found the "gaming mice hierarchy chart" I knew was floating somewhere around the web. Take it for what you will, but here it is:
