Gaming /gutsy laptop recomendation -$1200

I'm looking for a gaming/work/school computer in the $1200 flexible range. I would prefer something in the 15" area but I've seen some really good looking 17" one's. Mainly I need something with some oomph that I can carry around at school and not get destroyed.

So far the one's I've looked at are the Asus G751JM, the local Best Buy had one on display and the screen was beautiful. I'm very sure it was an IPS panel with a touch screen. Overall I thought it was realty nice other than it being quite large which I don't find a deal breaker. My concern with it is the 50/50 software that seems to come with it. I've seen numerous complaints about the drivers for graphics specifically not working or causing issues.

The local Best Buy also had a Lanovo y50 which is nice and good on paper but for the price point I agree with the majority claim that the screen is of piss poor quality when they have a cheaper 2 in 1 ultra book with a nicer display.

I also looked at Alienware because I have a friend that has a 14 and loves it. Their size jump from now 13" to 17" is a tad annoying because the 13" is would be nearly perfect but small and the 17 would be pushing gigantic. Also I sifted through the reviews on their site for the 17" and found some mixed issues people have had. That and most Alienware stuff seems to wage a low price to performance ratio.

MSI may be a good one to look at but haven't researched too much yet. The GS60 Ghost-470 looks promising.

Over all I'm having a difficult time deciding because it seems like every seemingly good laptop has some glaring problem or defect or flaky customer support or what ever.

well, the Ghost series of laptops from MSi are probably my favorite when looking at a college environment. They are sleek, powerful, and quiet, and they don't look tacky like some of the ASUS or Alienware laptops look with their LEDs and enormous exhausts. The Lenovo y50 is also an amazing laptop. I have an old Lenovo y570 from yesteryear with sandybridge/fermi internals, and it still chugs along nicely, so I can vouch for Lenovo's Y series.

So I would say go with either the Ghost, or the Lenovo y50. They are going to be pretty similar in the end, and if it is bloatware you are worried about, you can always just remove it, its not difficult.

Thanks I actually went with an MSI GE 60
