Both STEAM and GOG are having a sale on games made in Ukraine and there’s some really good games listed. My recommendations are:
NOTE: These are FPS’ - my usual guilty pleasure.
In terms of other genres; I’ve also heard pretty good things about Cossacks as well as the Sherlock Holmes ones.
This time EPIC is giving away Homewold: Desets of Kharak until 31st of August 2023, at 5pm (17:00)
There are some add-ons/DLC for the game listed - none are free or discounted. I do think the soundtrack is pretty nice, but this is coming from someone who has bought the (physical) collectors edition so take it a pinch of salt
If you are into Homeworld, GOG has Homeworld: Emergence (previously known as Homeworld: Cataclysm) on sale for literally a few cents:
There is also a sale again (of 84% !) on the Metro Franchise Bundle which gets you:
If you already own some of these on GOG, the individual games/DLC are also discounted as well so be sure to sniff around.
UBISOFT announced that anyone who preorders (please don’t) the Crew Motorfest 3 will get early access before the game launches and some additional DLC etc etc.
That said, the interesting part is that anyone that wants to try out Crew Motorfest 3 out before buying it will be able to play it for 5 hours for free on all platforms from September 14 - 17.
Not a discount but my goodness how could I not mention the launch of Armored Core 6: fires of Rubicon?
DISCLAIMER: I am one of the folks lurking in their Discord and one of the folks boosting their Discord sooooo yeah, I am strictly speaking fairly biased on Sprawl.
Did you like Ghost in the Shell? Did you like Titanfall? Did you like DOOM? Did you like FPS? Well my dear fellow person of good taste… have a look at this then.
Sprawl has released! And is currently on sale for 10%
May I recommend getting the bundle including the OST?
/end shillmode
If you want something else , might I recommend Planet of Lana?
It’s on sale this weekend for 25%
Hope you folks find something to enjoy, and have a wonderful weekend!
Free on GOG:
For the next 62 hours…
Sea of Stars launched and is having a promo
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/34153/Sea_of_Stars__The_Messenger_Bundle/
I saw it on game linked and played the demo. It was fun and was great on the steam deck. The Messenger looks like a ninja gaiden spriritual succesor
Good Old GOG (see what I did there?) is having a sale on them shooters.
It has the Metro Franchise Bundle (all 3 games including DLC) for 84% off, Wing Commander 1+2, 3, and 4 at 75% off (they cost € 1,39 at the moment
), and so many more…
And to mention in particular… the brand new System Shock remake by Night Dive studios… at 25% off
If you aren’t sure you’ll like it, get the demo (yes, an actual demo exists!)
DISCLAIMER I was one of their backers on Kickstarter so I have a slight bias for this game… And MAAAYBE there is a some zombie somewhere that I named (alright it was one of their tiers and I couldn’t resist..)
Ubisoft is having a free to play weekend on Rainbow Six Siege - although I can’t find the news-article on their site it is being shown as such in the actual UBISOFT CONNECT (Beta) client.
So you may have to check the client to find the preload button in order to be able to play this weekend.
EDIT: added Ubisoft Rainbow Six Siege free-to-play weekend
Oh… Well would you look at that …
Epic games is giving away Cave Story + this week. Note: this has previously been given away.
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/cave-story-plus
I might get into trouble for letting this secret out buuuttttt, newsletter subscribers over at GOG are getting an even higher discount on some Konami classics:
Even if you aren’t signed up for it you can get 30% off on Silent Hill 4: The Room, and 35% on Konami Collector’s series
The Konami’s Collectors series contains:
Now see, if you were signed up, you’d get 35% and 40% respectively. Hmyes… So what I’m saying is, sign up for it and hey - get some bigger discounts. (see note at the end of this post please)
Moving on… here are some other arbitrarily chosen discounts I’d figure worth highlighting:
It’s been given away on EPIC recently if I remember correctly - so if you missed that, now is your chance to get for little.
In case you never heard of it, think Descent - the 6 degrees of Freedom (6DOF ) A shooter set with in a pretty bleak world, bright lights and a thumping soundtrack. Get it for that soundtrack alone. Another great port by Nightdive <3
Not sure if these were mentioned before but eh, they’re free (at least at the time of writing
As mentioned previously, XBOX Games with Gold (where you could claim up to 2 titles for free per month) will end on September 14th 2023. In case you haven’t claimed the last 2 titles do so now
I’m still not seeing the Rainbow Six Siege free weekend on their site (unless I am missing it) but I still do see it in the Ubisoft Connect Beta client (The new UPLAY) so… eh? In case you wanted to try it out, fire up the UPLAY or Ubisoft Connect Beta client (name rolls right off the tongue) and check if it’s listed on the News page.
Over on STEAM there is a Playstation Publisher sale, meaning you can get games such as the Last of Us, Spiderman Remastered, etc. with some discounts.
Tripwire, most known for Killing Floor (1,2 and 3) and Maneater is also having a sale.
There also is the Steam Strategy Fest, giving discounts on strategy games. Might be worth having a peek…
This weekend you can play the new LEGO 2K drive for free, and/or get it with a 33% discount.
And there we have it… Have a great weekend, happy gaming!
NOTE
I am not affiliated with GOG (or Steam, Ubisoft, etc.) in any way, shape, form, or capacity.
EDIT Just as a I finished writing this post, I saw the Tripwire publisher sale and the free-to-play weekend on 2K drive. Well, they’re added now
Damn it, @Aprazeth I have to up my game now because of you…
Oh well…
GOG Giveaway
During their Autumn Sale GOG is giving away King’s Bounty: The Legend for the next 36 or so hours from the time of typing.
Thanks for the kind feedback
Well, as long as everyone benefits I guess that’s a good thing right? By all means though, do not feel obligated to! Even a simple link and description is welcome.
GOG is giving away for the next ~70 hours (at time of writing) Ghost Master (newsletter subscription required)
There is a sale on the Yakuza series - 50% (on the entire bundle and the individual installments and/or DLC) >> Best Video games, DRM-free | GOG.COM
A few items I figured worth mentioning:
If you didn’t see anything in the above list, the autumn sale contains a bunch of other games/DLC on sale, might be worth checking out:
I was just typing that
Over on STEAM you can get Titanfall 2 with a big discount of 90%. If you haven’t bought/played Titanfall 2 yet, now’s the time.
NOTE: the online multiplayer of Titanfall 2 is in an iffy state. Lots of cheaters/hackers etc. BUT the single-player part of the game is worth the price of admission alone. It’s an incredibly fun game. Highly recommended.
So euhm, yeah. The 2 games of South Park (The Stick of Truth and the Fractured but Whole) are on sale in a bundle (81% off) as well as the games individually.
What do Aliens, Predator, Zombies, Snipers, and Judge Dredd have in common? Their games are on sale (at least the ones published by Rebellion)
My recommendations for your consideration in no particular order…
This is the 1999 version. If you think you’re tough and know shooters, play this. Also, try not to laugh too hard at the in-game FMV’s. They are just the right kind of cheesy that is so so good. Plus, any game that has pulse rifles, Aliens, and Predators is bound to be good right… Right?
It’s a game where you shoot a particular type of World War 2 baddies. You not just snipe, but there also stealth parts, as well as intense action-scenes. Plus you get to unalive their leader so there’s that?
It’s a bunch of Zombies set in the 2nd World War. The game has freaking zombie sharks… Why are you still reading this instead of checking it out?
Sorry if I beat you to it again @psycho_666
But Aprazeth, I hear you say, doesn’t GOG mean ‘Good Old Games’ ? Where are their discounts, their moment in the spotlight?
Well dear reader, first off - get out of my head. Valid criticism though! So this time I’ll focus on some those games.
GOG is having a discount, as part of their autumn sale, on classic games as well: Best Video games from category: Discounted, Classic, DRM-free | GOG.COM
Of course, I’ll never miss the chance to point out some of my personal favorites and/or recommendations.
Get yourself the entire series:
Baldur's Gate 3 on GOG.comIn no particular order…
Command your minions to do your bidding. No, not those yellow ones you see all over Facebook. Smash the villages, defeat the heroes, and build your evil empire. Jolly good fun I say.
Time for a 4 finger discount. Cause well, they’re cheap but not free…
Off you go then! There’s a lot more on sale, like Rayman, Heroes of Might & Magic, Theme Hospital, Monkey Island, 18 Wheels of Steel, Myst and many more.
EDIT 9SEPT2023: As is starting to become a tradition, I of course find some other discounts as soon as I finish posting. And since I don’t think it’s considered good conduct to post twice in a row, well - here we find ourselves. Anyway, on to the discounts!
Over on EA (put down those pitchforks please) the Need for Speed series is on sale.
The list of games on sale can be found at: https://www.ea.com/sales/deals
Please be aware that the discounts are based on what EA showed. I wasn’t signed in etc. These are (probably) based on purchasing it on their own platform instead of Steam, EPIC, Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. So their respective discounts may vary as you’ll see below with Need for Speed Heat for example (92% on EA, 90% on Steam
) Also, I didn’t see any discounts on EPIC so be aware that there might not even be a discount on your preferred point of purchase
So here we go; I’ve split them up based on where you can purchase them.
If you want to purchase them on STEAM:
NOTE I would have LOVED to have these show up in a table (you know, one line per game and direct links to either the EA store or STEAM) but AFAIK there is no table-support on this forum. If there is, my apologies (and please let me know)
Not sure if I’ve mentioned these particular sales before, apologies if so.
The Warner Brothers sale includes items such as Lego Star Wars (and DLC), Back 4 Blood, Batman (Arkam series), etc.
The Sony sale includes items such as The Last of Us, Spiderman, God Of War, Uncharted, Predator Hunting Grounds, Horizon Zero Dawn, and their DLC’s
The 2K sale includes items such as Bioshock, XCOM, Mafia, Borderlands, Civilization, their DLC’s etc.
EPIC is giving away Spelldrifter until 14th of September at 5pm (17:00)
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/spelldrifter
No DLC/add-ons were listed at the time of writing.
Ubisoft mentioned that Twitch drops are back with the launch of the new season for For Honor. So in case you play/like For Honor and have a Twitch account, go visit > Twitch Drops Are Back! < for the details.
Considering the news that Volition (developer of the recent Saints Row, but also the classics of Freespace etc.) has been closed down (as seen on the Verge), I figured I’d point out the sale on Freespace 2 over on GOG (30% off)
If you haven’t played Freespace 2 before, well - you should (provided you are into space/flight sims. Not on the level of Microsoft Flight Simulator, but also not Mario Kart levels of simplicity) It’s a really-really good game. And it’s dirt cheap.
The following is a bit of a tangent perhaps, but I mean… I could not resist
Now, in a bit of a twist of things I’ll also recommend you get Knossos over at https://www.hard-light.net/ along with it (Direct link to download Knossos. Why? It adds:
Also; based on the FSO (Freespace Open) project/engine, there are some standalone games you can get as well over at Projects | Hard Light Productions
I mean.. Babylon 5 anyone? > https://babylon.hard-light.net/
Please allow me to quote the text on the listing:
Scottish Games Sale is supporting Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity’s ‘Games for the Weans’ campaign (Weans is our word for Children!). The funds raised will kit out the hospital with adapted gaming equipment, consoles, board games and supporting the hospital’s Play Team - so that children in hospital always have someone to play with.
Have a look, buy a game, support a charity. Note; for some of the games there are also demo’s available so you can try them out beforehand - for free.
Might I recommend the following?
Other games are on sale as well, so have a look around
Maybe you’ve never heard of them, but apparently Dark Souls games are quite popular. /s
All 3 of them (Dark Souls I, II, and III) are on sale at 50% off.
The game Ultimate Chicken Horse is both on sale and has a free-to-play weekend. The name alone warrants specifically mentioning it
Yes I am not giving the above 2 an entire blob of text. This post is long enough as-is and I am quite sure most people know about these games already.
$42 for DS3 + DLC; yikes!
GOG is now giving away Requiem: Avenging Angel for the next 68 hours at the time of writing.
Requiem: Avenging Angel is a FPS launched (as I recall) a month or so before Half LIfe… I think you can guess how much attention this originally got. That said, it is a fun game but I highly highly recommend setting up new keybindings.
Also, don’t expect an absolute hidden gem - but it is reasonably fun (and hey, it’s free)
I’ll also mention: Trepang2 on sale with a 10% discount (it’s a € 30 game so it’s already pretty cheap as-is)
If you are unsure about it grab the demo. Short synopsis: a FPS that is a mix between FEAR… and euhm… yeah. That? Bullet-time, John Woo physics (so expect lots of sparks, smoke, blood&gore) and hey, you can dual-wield shotguns… Don’t question it
Enjoy the weekend!
Ultimate Chicken Horse is a great game. We play it at holiday parties in a tournament style of winner is out so that the ones that need the practice and the ones who have fun falls/deaths stay in and make it entertaining. It is basically a tradition at this point that even the grandparents get in on because it is a fun, easy to understand game.
The event runs from 11th of September 2023 until 14th of September 2023. Sales might last longer though
Steam is having a sale/festival called “Save & Sound” celebrating the music in games in particular.
Offer valid until 14th of September 2023
Might I recommend fans of cyberpunk/dystopian worlds/Voxel based games to check out Clodpunk? (65% off)
In particular I’d suggest to get the Ultimate Edition (contains the base game, soundtrack and City of Ghosts) for a total of 62% off .
Offer valid until 18th of September 2023
Note that the sale is on both the entire game as well as the upgrade to the Director’s Cut edition in case you already own the base game.
Offer valid until 25th of September 2023 (as part of the EA September Showcase Sale
These offers are valid until the 25th of September 2023 at time of writing unless noted otherwise.
Apart from Dead Space, and the earlier listed Need For Speed games (check an earlier post I made) there is a sale for a few other EA titles as well, including but not limited to:
A LOT of DLC for the SIMS 4 is on sale as well.
Offers were valid at the time of writing for another 6 days and 17 hours. So around 18th of September 2023 they’ll expire.
I mean come on, you didn’t think I’d post a list of discounts and give-aways without mentioning GOG?
This one is on sale at a whopping 90% off
In keeping with the theme of cyberpunk/dystopian worlds, there is a 70% discount on Ghost Runner as well (demo for the game available for free here: Ghostrunner Demo on GOG.com)
All of the DLC and/or add-ons are on sale as well, which includes Project_Hel, an expansion (35% off)
Perhaps you want something a bit more relaxing, while still giving a bit of challenge AND you want to support a good cause? Currently on sale for 20% off for both the standard version as well as the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes the standard version plus the OST (and we have come full circle from cyberpunk back to game soundtracks )
Allow me to quote the game’s own description:
Terra Nil is a game about transforming a barren, lifeless landscape into a thriving, vibrant ecosystem. Turn dead soil into fertile grassland, clean polluted oceans, plant sprawling forests, and create the ideal habitat for animals to call home. Then recycle your buildings and leave no trace that you were there. Reclaim the wasteland.
A portion of their sales go towards a charity called Endangered Wildlife Trust, based in South Africa. Read more at https://www.terranil.com/
Offers valid until 19th of September 2023
Steam is 20 years old now (thanks for reminder I’m getting old Valve… sheesh) and because of that is having a sale of their games.
Here’s a quick link to them good ol’ games … of Valve.
PSSST, just get the Valve Complete pack that includes pretty much EVERYTHING Valve has made with the exception of Half Life Alyx (but does include Half Life 1 and 2, the 2 episodes, Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, Portal 1 and 2, etc.). The bundle is 93% off Valve Complete Pack on Steam
There are a lot of other games on sale as well, so go check it out If you don’t you’ll make Chell sad
Also, get some free Steam Points shop thingies from the Steam Points Shop.
Offers valid until 26th of September 2023
No, not the fish. Call of Duty is having a franchise sale over on Steam, so you can get some of their games with a discount. And believe me, that’s RARE. No, not the developer Rare… Oh for #@% sake. Just go check it out OK?
NOTE: I still personally believe that paying € 10 for Call of Duty, or € 15 for Call of Duty 2 is way way way too much. But as COD practically never goes on sale, well, here we are.
Over on GOG, for whom I do not work, there is both The Indie Festival as well as the Videospielsonderangebotsfeier-Sale (because of course there is a German word for it)
Offers valid until 27 September 2023
You can get the entire list of games on sale at https://www.gog.com/en/promo/2023_the_indie_festival
For the news-link:
In short: sale on indie-games. During this sale you’ll find titles such as, but not limited to:

You can get games such as:
Well, it’s only 2 games in the series but hey it’s my post
Why are there so many of them? Admitted, it is a fun game though. The sale is including DLC’s as well as the games at 88% off
I couldn’t find any date for how long these discounts are valid.
Apart from the recently mentioned sales on Need for Speed, Command&Conquer, Jedi Survivor - there also is a sale on some of their other games on their site:
That includes titles such as
