Hi guys is it possible to get an FX 8350 to run 4 sticks of 1866 RAM on dual or quad chnnel? And how would I go bout it. I'm getting the CPU and 2x4GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro on 1866 Mhz CL9.
Here is a link to the build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3w099
Now if I get a second set how will I go about runing it in the same speed, as the FX 8350 does not support 1866 above 2 sticks natively?
I'm running 4 sticks of 1866mhz Cas 9 with a mild Cas overclock. And my chip is OC'ed to 4.8ghz, so yeah it should handle it. Had to bump from 1600 to 1866 in BIOS though, but no big deal.
Offcourse you are able to run 4 sticks of 1866mhz in "DUAL" channel
Its not possible to run 4 sticks in "QUAD" channel on a FX8350, because the FX8350 only has a dual channel memory controller. You can use upto 2 memory sticks per channel, thats makes it of 4 sticks in total.
Only intel socket 2011 cpu´s have quad channel memory controllers. you can use 2 sticks per channel, that makes it 8 memory sticks in total.
And intel socket 1366 cpu´s had a triple channel memory controller, you could use upto 6 sticks on those boards.
