Full install help Linux lite

i just spent about 8 hours trying to installing linux lite onto my 64gb HP usb and havent been able to get it to work so i put the live version on it.

is there any way for me to install the stuff i want like Steam , Update, and other software and it will stay on my usb even after restart of a pc or if i switch computers? or is there an alertenative way of installing a full version of linux lite onto a usb?

I'm not familiar with Linux Lite, but if I'm not mistaken as long as you've alloted enough space on your USB then I think If you install anything on it in a live session, that it will stay there until you remove it.
