Freesync and Fallout 4

I’ve decided to go back and replay Fallout 4 with a sarcastic character. Since the last time I played I’ve made a couple of serious upgrades. I’ve got a Vega 56 with an Acer 144Hz Freesync monitor. The problem I’m having is that Fallout just doesn’t seem to like Freesync. I can tell its not working properly because the monitors built in FPS counter is stuck at 144 fps, whether Fallout is running at 190 fps or 60 fps. When using a more modern game like Assassin’s Creed Origins, the monitor’s OSD properly registers the fluctuating framerate.

And Fallout 4 also has serious timescale problems with framerates over 60 fps. Is there any way to get Freesync working and also not zip through the game like The Flash?

For this last part, no. The game/engine speed are tied to the frame rate. There is no way I have seen to get around this.
