This is the essence of my problem. How should I title this song so that it will show up in Gnome Music?
You should file a bug.
IDK if that's a bug or user error though... I will give it a couple days to get it's shit together before I accidentally make myself look like an idiot filing a bug
If you open the file in a tag editor, is it tagged properly? I'm assuming it has some kind of metadata since it displays the custom thumbnail in the file manager...
I assumed so as well. what is a good tag editor... i have never had to deal with this problem
i guess easyTag w/ gnome. It's been awhile but it worked for me in the past.
ill give it a shot and post screenshots
Added album artist and original artist and album name... hopefully that fixes it
Edit: didn't help at all...
Might be an issue with the .flac file itself. Have you tried converting it to WAV and back to FLAC again? Or downloading a different file of the same song?
I have not, how would that help if you don't mind explaining.
I have come across .flac files that were somehow improperly formatted, causing my music player on Windows (Xion) to not pick it up either. Converting the file like I mentioned above solved it for me.
But looking at the thread again I'm now wondering : is it just that one file that has issues or is it your entire music collection?
Have you tried MusicBrainz/Picard?
It automatically ID3 tags your entire library to universal standards.
i will try them out, thank you
The tool is a game changer. I've got around 300GB of music and I would never have gotten it organized or consistent without it
what do you do when you upgrade your OS?
- I use BSD and Arch
- I keep seperate data and OS partitions/drives/pools
- My Nas Auto-Picards new music I put on it
not really ever an issue
Cool... so what do I do with this app? Like got any tips or a guide?
Do you have a reccomendation for a music player. Gnome music seems to be bad, although it is pretty
Rhythmbox.
Multipane sorting, Scrobbling, a shuffle that actually ramdomizes, search function that doesn't interrupt playlists or shuffle all, a consistent design language that looks good with most theming, and tons of plugins.
