First time migrating to PC need help (long but desperate)

so Im moving towards the PC race and want to spend money on building or buying a already made computer machine for gaming (need to replace 8 year old mac)
I live in France and my english aint great so bear in mind that...
anyways at first I wanted to spend no more then 700 euros on a computer but my dad says that if your gonna build a gaming rig, he offered me to buy the best shit that is valuable and will last for years... we went to a few shops looking for parts but had no clue what to look for, so he told me to do some research

I honestly need reccomendations of good parts (price range anywhere to 1000-1500 in total for components)
Im NOT looking for a super 200fps 2terabyte ssd best 1000$ graphics card beast gaming machine keep in mind....
im looking for around a no less then 60 fps and 1080p experience on most games like GTA5, Starcraft, league on ulta settings etc...

So i will need reccomendations of every compononent to build a decently priced PC for my reccomendations

-i decided to get a 500gb ssd? hd? storage
-im thinking about 8gb of ram instead of 12gb, is 8gb suffiecient for a mediocre gamer? could I possibly even go to 6gb?
-a 500 wat power supply im thinking to
-im thinking about a R9270X-DC2T-4GD5 graphics card? i heard that its noisy though :/ is this a good card to get?
what about a cpu amd fx6300 3.5GHZ 6 core AGAINST A GeForce GTX 750 Ti ?
-im kinda stuck and confused about a memory card and its purpose, thinking about getting two 1600mhz 8gb, but i think i can afford more expensive better ones.. need explantion on its purpose though...
-im also looking into a 'cpu amd fx6300 3.5GHZ 6 core' but have no idea whats is used for xD
- i think im missing fans,coolers

or simplier should i just copy a build from youtube?

Hello,
for what you plan on using this PC, I would suggest you buy 250GB SSD disk (stay away from Kingston brand, go for Corsair or Samsung or Intel if you got the money). 500GB for SSD is bit too much imho and you wont need all that super fast storage anyway (not imediatelly).
For CPU, I would go for Intel, i5 is okay.
As far as RAM goes, you can never have enough of it. Even if games do not use that much RAM, you can always find a good use of it (VMs, RAMdisk). RAM is cheep these days and will get even cheaper.
For GPU, try to find best value for money card you can as this is the heart of your gaming rig. CPU nor RAM will bottleneck your FPS as much as GPU card. Im not saying you should buy the most expensive shit out there....if you plan on playing games like GTA, Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher or generally games that use mods and lots of memory, look for 8GB models.

Not entirely sure what you mean...you mean RAM? I would not bother with CL and superexpensive models. It does not affect your gaming experience that much. You will see a difference when using 3D software, video rendering etc while using superfast memory, but not so much in games.

Anyway, good luck building your first PC :)

  • a non-k (overclocking model) i5 - cheap one like a 4460 is all you need for a decent gaming rig
  • H97 motherboard - good features and cheaper than the (overclocking featured) Z97 boards.
  • spend as much on the gpu as you can - 970's are great but if you've saved money on the cpu and motherboard then maybe you can jump up to a 980, Fury, 980ti
  • great choice in HDD - the WD Blues are very decent

what retailer are you looking to use there in France? so we can do some more detailed build lists that are in your budget

that clears a lot of things up thanks

might not buy the stuff online...
thing is im traveling a bit on bussiness trips around europe meanwhile i might pop up in stores and buy the items which i need, annyways tommorow ill be updating my full list from A to Z in what ill be specifically buying espicially if there avaible in shops that im visiting

but what about the list that i posted what should i change from it? is it good?
is it to much for what I need or to little in some areas?

Whilst your list is decent enough, there is no point in an overclocking cpu and overclocking motherboard unless you intend to overclock the cpu - this will need an aftermarket cpu cooler as well.
A 'k' cpu and not overclocking is essentially money down the drain. You'd be better off with a i7 (non-k), i5 (non-k) or Hyperthreading enabled Xeon (eg 1230v3).

Okay, lets go one by one:

CPU-Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
- as recommended, check out i5-4460 (non K version), you wont need overclocking in your first rig

RAM-G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
- OKAY. Im using Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz (i would recommend 2x8GB sticks)

GPU-MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V
- put all your extra money here, if you manage to find a deal on 980, go for it...it will be more "future-resistant"

Motherboard-Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
- as stated by deejeta, you can save some money buying non-overclocking board, unless you really need some of that features

HDD-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
- ok, also you can check out HGST (former Hitachi)

SSD-Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB
- stay away from Kingston, after what they did with V300 bait, I would never recommend this brand anymore
- check out Corsair, if you want to spend some extra cash Intel is your brand to look for
- 250GB

Case-NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower
- this all comes down to aesthetics...

PSU-EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular
- 750W will be more than enough even for 980 graphics card

Amazon France

MSI 390 about the same price

I second stay away from Kingston SSD

WD or HGST are best brands for Old school spindle drivers

I would go with a Plat certified PSU if I had the extra cash

nice, and for add ons what gaming keyboard, mouses and headsets would u reccomend

'RAM-G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
- OKAY. Im using Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz (i would recommend 2x8GB sticks) '

isnt 16gb a bit to much? i was aiming per say around 12gb?
and what exactly is overclocking and why would on 'use'it?

Right you will not need more than 8 gigs of ram...

The only time I use more than 8 gigs of ram is when I do a Huge UE4 world. I will then only use about 8.6gigs of ram. Sometimes in Maya I may make a High poly scene and go about 8 gigs of ram.

Gaming? you will never go above 8 for another year or so. Unless you Game with 100 browsers up 2 movies playing, maybe another game on the second screen.

On the other hand ddr3 is dirt cheap right now and 16 gigs is not much more than 8 gigs.

I use a turtle beach x12 (because it connects to my xbox)
I would prefer a better headset but it gets the job done right now and I don't have to worry if my kids decide to destory it.
I have my Eye on something like this for my mic

and something like this for my headphones/headset.

As for Keyboard and Mouse I use a logitech k260. No negative comments on them. I do notice that the mouse is not as precise as I need it to be. will probably upgrade to the monoprice mouse

yeah i thought so that 16gb was overdoes for gaming... i will go for 8 then, since gaming is my hobby and my family is kinda wealthy but i never really spend much money, i can sarcifice waiting for another year and buying more memory if i would need to

dont really need a snowball and that gaming headset looks to bulky and heavy,.. just wanted to know the mouses in particular....
i used to own a turtlebeach for ps3 back in the day.. i think it was called the x5
other than that im set for the build, had all my parts picked out, know just need to price the total and will be posting on here allong with all the parts which i wanted to choose, least i could do for people interested
thanks everyone for all the info, great help

im having a problem whilst researching im not sure which motherboard to get could you help?
i have everything but the mohterboard figuerd out....
im choosing between:
-MSI 970 GAMING motherboard
-MSI Z97 PC motherboard
-and finnally the MSI Z87-G45 motherboard
should i really pay an extra 100 bucks for a motherboard? what other benefits does it hold?

You have a i5 k processor I would go with the z97 board. You will be able to OC like a champ. If you don't plan on Ocing get the Non K version of the i5 and go with an H87 board.

very sorry to bug you once more, but im having big trouble reading english articles about the difference with i5k processor, unfortunately theres isnt very much detailed french articles about them
i hace three choices of the same brand of i5k but have no idea which one to get.., could you give me an helping hand/?:
-Intel i5 Haswell 4460 3.2GHz Quad Core 1150 Processor
-Core i5-4460 3,2 GHz 4
-Core i5-4460 Quad Core 3.2GHz ?
which one is best i need to know theres like a 200 euro price difference :O

wanted to add that i wont be overclocking either..

It is pretty simple once you figure out their symbols

Here is an example for you

I5-4460k The Multiplier is Unlocked so you can OC
i5-4460 with no K the multiplier is locked You are very limited to OCing.

Since you do not want to OC get the i5 that has the most Ghz.

This would be one I would get. If you want to go cheaper You can do an 4460 non K version. You will not get as much performance as the 4690 but you will not notice much difference.

Since you are not wanting to OC your chip You can downgrade your board to a h87 board they are cheaper because they limit OC ability.
