I would swap the 6300 for a phenom II 965  and then get a 7870 instead if its a gaming build

will the 550 watt still be able to run both the 7870 and the phenom ii 965

It should but if you are concerned then get a higher wattage psu I run a 2600k and a 670 on a 600w psu so you should be fine
