Fell into the FOMO trap

So after watching many warnings of “buy now because the price is tripling next year”, I broke down at the midnight hour and bought a 9070XT. I have not so recently moved and getting around to building out my desk(2).
I hate sit/stand desk. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 gorgeous 72 inch butcher block counter tops. The real deal. My back can vouch for that as I had to haul those bad boys up a flight of steps .
Luckily during the move, only one stick of DDR4 went dead on me one day.
My Linux workstation has been working wonderfully: R9 3950X, 32GB 3600MHZ, Radeon VII. My server has been down for awhile. Hopefully its just the boot disk is bad but only have wifi in my apartment anyway. Here they will throttle you down if you go over 1G.
The closest Micro Center is 270 miles away. Amazon is fine but my local Best Buy is a train wreck. I don’t allow any of their employees come near me when I am shopping. I do not want their lack of knowledge to rub off on me.
So I am stuck with Amazon for parts. So far I have ordered the wrong PSU< 750W instead of 850. I lost one of those stupid mounting brackets for my monitor mount. Bought another triple mount just to discover I need a quad because I have an Ultrawide I want to add to my setup. I tried to order some 240mm case fans and Best Buy doesn’t carry them, Amazon only has the Chinese ones. Luckily I found a set I can get out of an old R4 case.
I do not plan on doing another build til capacity can keep up. I did see a report that some of this AI tech is not going so well and tension is rising with some developers. We still have to wait how government is going to regulate the industry. I am just going to wait and see what happens

I love those butcher blocks… i use them for kitchens and baths all the time. Brought one home and made a 72 in desk on hairpin legs and a coffee table with hairpins as well. Mid century modern meets industrial. Sweet!! I have FOMO bad too. I sense were witnessing the end of home computing. Sad
