Expert recommendations for choosing a laptop

My laptop is stopped working so I’ve been researching the best laptop, and I’ve gone through quite a bit of content from sources like CNET, TechRadar, and The Verge. After days of comparing specs and reading expert reviews, I’ve narrowed it down to two solid contenders:

Apple 2024 MacBook Pro (M4 Pro)

Lenovo V15 Business Laptop

I love Apple’s performance and build, but the Lenovo seems like an insane value for the specs, especially with the RAM and storage. I’m torn!

Would love to hear from anyone who’s used either model or has insight into which one would be a better fit for the long haul.

Which one would you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or thoughts!

What’s your workload look like? Do you have any specific software requirements?
Knowing how you’ll be using the laptop will go a long way to folks being able to recommend options.

A concern would be, if you plot on any internal upgrades, before entertaining a successor
Apple been on more, of a set [as-is] pkging, 'cause y’Know Apple
The Lenovo can have some pliability [pending on size form factor]
*The Lenovo, may have sub-sku(s), including dedicated GPU applied

Is the software suite plan, indifferent to OS used?

hard to say without knowing the exact sku of the lenovo v15 and what configuration of the MacBook Pro

i usually play demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 Elden Ring and Call of Duty and sometimes do a bit of video editing and streaming on the side i am looking for something powerful with great graphics fast refresh rates and solid cooling.

Apple MBP. I’ve heard Lenovo’s build quality dropped since heavy ThinkPad days and they’re bulk-sale business orientated, but Apple has a reputation to uphold with regular people.

Regardless of the V15’s specs its chassis is low end and I wouldn’t count on it to hold up for very long unless you baby it and even then I’d expect it to develop snapped screw posts and other similar issues that occur with a low end laptop chassis. A thinkpad would hold up better but the whole “thin and light” trend is making even the thinkpad lineup a shadow of what it once was.

If you want a powerful laptop with a great design and long battery life, go for the MacBook Pro (M4 Pro). It’s perfect for heavy tasks but costs more.

If you just need a reliable, affordable laptop for everyday use, the Lenovo V15 is a solid choice. It’s not as fancy or powerful as the MacBook, but it works well for basic tasks.

If you’re looking at gaming, with a higher priority
May wanna skip over both and commit to beefier laptop options [no “thin n’ light” fru-fru]
