Embedded Systems

Hopeful this is the right section.

I'm basically currently exploring different ideas for my final year project, and am looking at  .net microframe work for embedded systems (http://www.netmf.com/gadgeteer/) which has these gadgeteer modules (http://www.ghielectronics.com/catalog/category/265) I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other frameworks like this preferably for Java, which have some reletively inexpensive hardware.

Cheers

I'm not quite into .Net systems but I do remember Netduino (http://netduino.com/).

not necessarily have to be dotnet based. I've never really looked into embedded systems before so I'm trying to get an idea of what's about.

Well embedded systems can be quite large. Right now the largest on the market is Raspberry Pi (http://www.raspberrypi.org/) But Arduino has been around for awhile with a lot more of the slower chips (when I mean slow I mean non-32Bit Based) http://arduino.cc/  for more info you can goto http://lmgtfy.com/?q=embedded+systems
