DYI: Dig Your own (broadband) Internet

On a recent episode of The Tek 0074(?) one of you mentioned folks in Vermont doing innovative things around getting broadband out to rural areas.  Literally their own digging in some cases doing.  You may already know about  this project, but it reminded me of a recent BBC podcast featuring a DYI broadband project aimed at getting high speed connections out in the rural portions of northern Britain.  Here are some cool links.  The UK project is called B4RN ('Barn') and the BBC website post. Here is an interview with B4RN folks on a recent episode of 'The Click'.  Community based projects like B4RN aren't for everyone, but these days I'll take all the hope I can get when it comes to the politics of connectivity, etc. It shows what regular folk can do if they get together and dig in.
