Drop in replacement for connectx-3 - QSFP+ to QSFP28 at 56GbE?

Hi,
currently I am using two ConnectX-3 Pro directly connected, unfortunately SR-IOV doesn’t work for Windows VMs, so I’m just thinking about replacing only the client side with a ConnectX-5 (MCX516A-CDAT).
As far as I understand QSFP+ to QSFP28 should work, but I guess only at 40Gbe, or am I missing something?
