I am in the process of building a Pc and was wondering if this would work because i love amd but can not find a motherboard for my processor (amd fx processsors) that has a pci 3.0 slot and i need one for my graphics card. sorry to bother you but i am young and do not know much about this i only know what parts are good and how to biuld a pc. thx
yes, pci express is fully cross compatible, the only difference is bandwidth. amd fx doesn't have pcie 3.0 because it's really not needed yet
Also isn't this in the wrong forum?
Yes wrong sub forum... Anyway.
You can go one further and say that any and all PCI cards will work in any and all PCI slots. The only restriction being putting full size cards in small slots, but even then if you cut out the stop/wall on that back they will continue to work.
Down side being that speed becomes a bottle neck.
But for the sake of argument and example. You have a smal PCI wireless card, but only have a full size GPU x16 slot free. Just plug it in anyway. It will work.
PCI "it just works"
