This thread is so I can find the solution easily when it happens again a year later and I’ve completely forgotten, to make it more likely to show up in search results for others.
On a recently rebooted Windows 10, I had opened up Discord, which loaded but was just a blank grey window. Closing it and opening it a few times did nothing, and neither did directly killing the discord process in the task manager.
What did fix it was having the window in focus and pressing Ctrl+r a few times, which apparently forces a reset of the app.
If a fresh restart not working you should go for these 2 ways -
remove application data from the folder -
by following these steps -
– Press win+r, then type command %appdata% to open the application data folders.
– Select Discord folders
Delete this folder
– Now try running the application again
Update graphics driver -
Press win+r, and type devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manage.
In Display adapters find your graphics information.
Right-click on the graphics and choose the update driver option.
Step 5 – Click on the option, and it will open the Driver Update.
Follow the steps that appear on the screen to complete the process.
