So, where is the difference between the Samsung PM851 (MZ7LN512HCHP-00000), the 850 Pro (MZ-7KE512BW) and the 850 Evo (MZ-75E500B/EU)?
Besides the obvious, being that the PM851 is a "bulk" aka OEM drive, the rest retail with some stuff I already have (adapters, software stuff).
Is the PM851 identical to the 850 Pro, or Evo? The prices are:
Evo~177€; Pro ~250€; PM851 ~228€
I ask, because I am looking for a new 512GB SSD for my laptop.
Thanks!
Pretty sure they use a different type of NAND.
EVO = cheaper slightly slower type nand, TLC.
PRO = more expensive older type nand MLC.
MLC has 3 times longer lifespan than TLC, but then again its 20 years to start with.
MLC has 60ish, which again is not really needed unless you constantly write/read from the drive 24/7 like in some servers.
This is all just a guess though, but I'd imagine that's the main reason.

Thank you for the quick answer!
Looks like the PM851 has TLC but higher IOPS (Samsung say, in the 100000). IOPS are nice, but 50€ for that unsignificant boost (to me) is not worth it.
MLC is nice. But not worth it for my application, since I do most of my reads and writes on my ramdisk, and only big changes get saved, and "big changes" are maybe 4GB, once or twice a week.
Thank you. I was unsure about the PM851, since all the flyers I could find are really just full of useless PR stuff. If it would've had the MLC NAND, I'd buy it, but I won't pay additional 75€ "just" for MLC.
850 Evo it is then. Fits nicely into my "collection".
