Developer main board in development
Anyone going to hop on this?
I thought about jumping on the RISC-V bandwagon… and I realize I have no real use case for it other than learning and having a feel for it.
It is completely open source, right? Including the BIOS?
Architecture itself is opensource, no such guarantees on actual implementation.
There is zero actual documentaion on how it is implemented, except that it is based aroud StarFive JH7110 which has been around the block so to speak.
Expect low performance (sub rpi4 levels) and chinese aliexpress board level of jank. Going by existing reviews for starfive board, paying premium for this might not be sane idea.
No. The instruction is open source but the extensions added on top doesn’t need to.
Yeah framework didn’t promise performance, they said to treat it as a supped up raspberry pi devkit
and that masterfully uinderselling it even. I am just trying to underscore how early risc is in harware and software support here.
Last reported performance levels were significantly below rpi4, and thats old and cost optimized hardware.
Saying it isn’t on par intel/amd is hillarious But If I had framework already, I might be tempted to try that board just for fun.
