Dell R760xs with Perc H755 HBA Mode?

Hi All,

I have my hands on 2 Dell R760xs servers that are going to be used for S2D however I for the life of me can not find how a way to get these servers into HBA mode.

I have read the PERC H755 does not support it however I have been wondering if there is a way to connect direct to the motherboard over using a dedicated HBA/RAID card.

Running a combination of SAS SSD’s and SAS HDD’s in the front bays. BOSS card for OS.

I have a feeling my only way out of this is to get a couple of HBA355 cards however if there is a way I can avoid this that would be preferred!

sweet rides…

Not happenin with that controller and do not recommend IT mode in prod…

That’s one of the cheapest solutions if you are runnin SATA/SAS in that chassis

You can run NVME direct from the MoBo, but that’s all the MCIO ports can handle (tried it).

You’ll need an HBA card, but I have ran a Broadcom 9600-16i in that generation Dell as a client had $3k in SATA SSD’s they wanted to utilize without PERC.

You’ll need a pair of cables that took bout an hour to find on Amazon. Sorry, I do not have the part number handy.

Thanks for the reply,
Ended up grabbing a couple of Perc HBA355 cards and am currently waiting on Fedex to do their thing.

Fingers crossed I should have an update in a couple of weeks when everything arrives saying that is all running perfect!
