what the max amount of ram an ram speed that can be added ?
what size are the internal fans an can they be replaced
can i use ssd instead of hd drives
an can i add a slimline blu-ray drive if so what would be a good one
an can the cpu’s be put on a custom watercooled loop
can 22tb of ssd storage be configed to raid 10 while adding some pci cards for nvme ssd drive for os
The H710 controller is too old to do 4kN sectors or pass through TRIM commands. Old enterprise SAS SSDs that don’t need / accept trim work fine.
I’ve used 8x 6TB drives on them, no reason to expect a problem.
Actually, it says both H710 and H310, so I’m not sure what you’ll get.
There’s a tiny connector on the mobo for SATA power, and a plastic housing/retaining clip on the OEM disc drives to hold them in place. You likely won’t be getting either, so it’ll be some work to improvise or find all the bits on eBay.
If you do buy it, it’s not difficult to upgrade the iDRAC from Express to Enterprise for all the extra features:
stick the h710 in IT mode and just use it as sata and all your trim worries will be gone
hardware raid is dopey these days anyway
