Does anyone have personal experience with the Dell/Intel X550-T4? Its a 4 RJ45 10Gb OCP NIC based on the X550 chipset. What excites me about this, is that the normally available cards based on the X550 should work with both 2.5/5Gb connections as well as 1/10Gb…Also these are like $50 on ebay rather than $500+ for the X710-T4L which legitimately supports the extra connection speeds.
Basically the questions are 3 fold:
-
should the weird, single vendor version of this card also support 2.5/5Gb connections even if there is NO documentation that I can find for it?
-
Does anyone have experience running OCP NICs in a PCIe adapter?
-
Can the X710 (old version) just be flashed with the firmware of the new version to enable the extra connection options?
