Currently own an Antec 902. Growing tired of it. Looking to upgrade to something that is more simplistic looking and quiet. Currently have my eyes on the Define R4 white(with window) and the Antec P280(either black or white with window). Any suggestions to help me choose between the two? I am willing to consider other cases but thus far haven't found any I am as interested in as these two.
Cheers!
I can't speak for the Antec. But I have the R4 and I'd highly reccomend it to someone who wants a roomy sturdy well built simplistic case.
Never had the R4, but I'm pretty pleased with my P280. Lots of room, nice feel. Not really as quiet as I was expecting, but I think that has a lot to do with the quality of the stock fans.
I'm very glad that someone actually asked this, since I've always wondered whether or not I made the right decision: I bought the Antec P280. The case is indeed very spacious and it has surprisingly good airflow too. However, the case I bought does have some serious quality control issues. The plastic and metal thumbscrews that come with the case are very low quality, I've already broken one of them (and no, I didn't overtighten it), the case feet are very low quality (one of the feet broke off and I had to glue it back on the chassis). At the time however, I bought my case on special for about R900 (which is about $90), so in that sense I think I got a pretty good deal. Antec's quality control with their cases has really gone to shit, so be careful not to spend too much on a new case.
I would say that both cases are equally good, the Antec P280 looks a bit nicer to me though. Good luck with your decision!
