Declining transfer rates and low overall performance

Hi fam,

Now having some time off work due to illness. Finally have time to try to fix up my computer. I mention this in hope y’all bear with me as I do not have all my mental facilities.

I am running into an issue where my transfer speeds decline rapidly. Small and large files. I can’t pin down the root of the issue.

For example, here is a transfer of a 38GB file. One drive to another drive on the same computer.

Start:

Screenshot at 2024-02-13 14-02-42

Over time:

What I did not capture is transfer speeds declining to the 300MB/sec area, wasn’t fast enough.

Setup:

Ubuntu MATE
Caja file manager
multiple Solidigm P41 Plus 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe Gen4 (I think these are DRAM-less?)

This is reproducible transferring to other P41 drives i.e. not just A to B but all C to B or C to A.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Best,

WWED

Do not have this issue with windows.

Bumping this thread.

Can’t seem to resolve this. Screenshots below are using Caja. I’ve also tried Thundar but have only gotten SLOWER speeds.

Transferring over a wired connection, starting at 80MB/sec dropping to 26MB/s. No matter what where and how I transfer files between internal and external drives, the speed collapses.

This time using a 670p to take out any factor of the Solidigm drives being the cause.

Guys, you wont believe how much of an idiot I am. I think after realigning the drive its fine.
