In my personal opinion, it's the best anime hands down. It's a short anime (37 episodes), but seems to tie everything in a knot. Long anime series just seem to bore me and drag out the meaning with many fillers and it's rather annoying, like Bleach for example. Even though it is a great anime. If anyone knows any other great short animes that have been done. Please let me know.
If you don't think Death Note is the best anime, why not? :)
Oh god i thought you were gonna kill yourself since im not really into anime
You had me really Lol'ing . that was just too funny. You made my morning!
Not that Death note isn't a good manga and anime I think I like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist:Brotherhood, Berserker, Hellsing,Neo Genesis Evangelion, Raxephon and GANTZ more than it. Seriously try GANTZ (manga or anime) it may be confusing at first, but once you understand it you probably will enjoy the hell out of it. If you're into manga try Vagabond it is an amazingly written story with terrific artwork, by Takehiko Inoue, all about Shinmen Takezo (aka Miyamoto Musashi).
Death Note.. my absolute favorite.. L.. my favorite character.. Can't get enough.. I'm not much of an anime watcher. I tend to find most animes obnoxious/abrasive. Death Note is dark, serious and thought provoking. Half of the time I even forgot I was watching an anime.. Completely amazing..
I have all 3 films on dvd but only have watched the first one and only read the first 3 volumes of the manga
Exactly how I feel. I'm not big on anime, but this one caught my eye and left me stunned at the end. Kept me thinking and guess what would happen next. Sometimes my thoughts had failed- other times it didn't. Which is what I love about it.
Will do sir. thanks.
Well, first of all the Death Note Anime falls short of the Manga. Secondly, other Animes I woud suggest checking out would be Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch(50 eps), Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood(64 eps), Clannad/After Story(50 eps), Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom(26 eps), Eureka Seven, ef - a tale of memories/melodies(26 eps), Steins;Gate(24 eps), Monster(74 eps), and Fate/Zero(25 eps). I consider all of these better than Death Note; well, maybe not Eureka Seven, but it's close.
I absolutely loved it' although I could NOT Watch it in English..horrid voice acting. Thank god I am fluent so I could watch in Japanese without subtitles.
the ending sucked, but other than that it was good.
hellsing, cowboy bebop, ghost in the shell <----, darker than black, flcl (its not similar, but funnnnny).
Code Geass is pretty similar to Death Note. I'd also reccomend Baccano it's pretty crazy. Normally I watch anime in Japanese with subtitles, but I think the English Dub was more suited to this anime.
I second the Fate Zero. Its a really good anime.
This is none of my favorite anime shows of all time, and I'm not much of an anime guy. I remember like 4-5 summers ago, my brother and I had a competition of who could finish the series first... Obviously me. It's been a while though. Last season kinda got crazy.
I don't like deathnote or codegeass'

Whenever people talk badly about anime, this is the show I proudly point them to. It breaks away from so many mind-numbing western shows and anime I've watched all my life. I think Ohba is a master of story telling even though it's supposedly his first published work, and he even wrote this expecting it to be one of the least read mangas because it doesn't have action as much as it has a thought-provoking plot, but he went with it anyway and it became a success.
I'm a big fan of psychological stories and this is my favorite one. Monster and Welcome to the NHK fall in a close second. Those are gems that you wouldn't ever find in a "most popular" list because of how different they are from typical anime, though Monster and W to the NHK are targetting a more mature audience.
You don't like Death Note or Code Geass? I may just need to sue you.
I second Cowboy Bebop, Also Full metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is unreal good. I also Love Love Love Gundam Wing. Might not be the best, but I have some fond memories of watching it when I was a bit younger.
tokyo majin is awesome
