DDR5 128gb at 3600 or 64 at 6000

Greets,

I’ve been using this build for a year and a half now, no problems or error.

Build - x670e Hero, 7950x3d, rog strix 4080

The ram im using is G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO Series (AMD Expo) 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-pin SDRAM DDR5 6000 CL32-38-38-96 1.40V Dual Channel Desktop Memory F5-6000J3238G32GX2-TZ5N

So far i have been using 128gb (4x32) with speed at 3600mhz. Why 128gb - MicrosoftFlightSim2020, DigitalCombatSim.

My questions is - whats the recommendation? Run 128 at 3600 or 64 at 6000mhz.
So far ive seen 0 changes in running 64/128, tis why i ask - am i missing something or doing something wrong

Thanks a lot:)

If you don’t see any performance regression with 128 for your workloads, just keep using that? If you do benchmarks that are RAM dependent the differences will show up (ycruncher, aida, etc.) as well as in some number crunching applications ((de)compression), some games, etc.

64GB modules are slowly becoming available so if you’re willing to spend (at least the difference vs, income of selling current modules) you can get the best of both worlds.

If you were running a SQL database of epic proportions or a game that prioritized RAM speed over amount then faster is better. Else, the more the merrier.
