CPU Wont Hit Base Clock

Hi guys,

Just thought I would post a update. AMD didnt directly tell me that they think there is a problem but once i told them I had the same result after a board swap they just sent me a service request form to get a RMA.

I decided to hold off and get a replacement from Amazon. Replacement just arrived and while I have not done much testing (total of 20 minutes of Prime95 so not sure how this thing boosts with latest bios) I can confirm that with Prime95 my new processor is able to hold its 3.8ghz base clock for the most part (with the stock fan at high, at low it will dip below slightly).

So why does this matter? As I mentioned my interpretation of base clock is that the CPU will retain that speed unless it hits its thermal throttle temp. Hopefully this helps some people. That said others may be fine with it.

In my case the CPU would hang out at the 3.75 mark when there was not much of a load on it.

Cheers

One interesting thing I am noticing is that Ryzen Master is not listing the best, second best cores the same in this new CPU.

Before each CCX had a best and second markers with a gold marker in each CCD for the best core in the CCD. Now it seems CCD 0 only has the gold marker and nothing in CCD 1.

Also a best core marker for CCX 1 in CCD 1 is missing along witht the second best marker for CCX 1 in CCD 0.

Interesting wonder if this is because AMD is trying to crank these CPU’s out (this was the last shipment amazon recived) and I wonder how this will affect performance (if at all) if this is how ryzen master/windows 10 determine what cores to favor.
