CPU temp

which is the temp to pay closer attention to the entire CPU temp or the Per Core temp?

Package temp is the one to pay attention to. All temperature specifications are in reference to T-junction or package temperature

my i7 5820K gets to about 80C on max load in Handbrake :P

What cooler?

Corsair H100i with IC Diamond TIM

What's it clocked to? My 5820k gets to ~70°C under heavy load at ~4.0GHz on air.

This is seriously bad airflow...

What if it's bonkers clocked at something like 4.7GHz or has 1.4v pumped in it? I won't rush to judge lol

Or it is silent mode, or it is manually set fans to low speed, or it is Intel's inability to do decent chips even without any competition and it's another badly thermal contact between the chip and the cap...
There are many options... I agree. Could just be bad OC...

the 5820K is sodered

That'd be why ;)

Yeah I though so lol

Yeah 80°C is a bit on the hot side for Haswell-e

I got a 5930K and Im running 81C package and 70-81C per core. (core #5 is a cool dude)

Cooler: NHD-15
Clock: 4.3
Voltage: 1.283

Also: I'm running Prim95 about 25C ambient.

BUT when NOT running Prime95 and instead cinebench Mine is much more reasonable.
