Recently my CPU fan has been making some rattling noises and yesterday it would almost not spin at all. I tried oiling the fan which helped for a day but now it's back where it was before.

I'm assuming that this means the bearing in the fan is broken and I'll have to get a new fan.
I have noticed that the cpu seems to be the same as the case fans but with some clips screwed on to hold it to the heat sink. I'm guessing this means that I can just buy a new case fan, screw on the clips from the broken cpu and be fine? I have also noticed that the cpu has a 4 pin cord rather than a 3 pin cord like the ones in my case. Is the extra pin for fan control speed or something and should it matter when purchasing a new fan?
Any suggestions on either fixing the fan or suggestions on a new fan would be greatly appreciated (the CPU fan is 120mm).
