Good day to you all,
Hope that maybe someone here has a Logitech keyboard and can spread some light on the topic. I am exploring the option of going for a G915 to serve two purposes:
-
Be a working laptop for a linux laptop (Fedora 37)
-
Be a second (and maybe become the primary in time) keyboard (with the sole intention of being wireless)
I currently own Corsair’s K95, which has been a treat for all the years I own it (even the key spacing, which if I’m not mistaking, is bigger than in regular specifications) is perfect for me. Sadly, Corsair stopped producing K95 (and I do wish to try something new), and the new K100 doesn’t have a MX Brown version.
And, of course, the macro keys. I am one of those few people, that absolutely loves that set of G1-G6 (I know g915 has only 5 keys), and any successor of K95 MUST have those.
So, finally, here is my question - how far in terms of functionality and quality has Logitech’s software come and can it handle the things I wish it “customize”.
Instead of hearing a lot of “oh, yes, it’s great/not”, here is the list of my current bindings (and things I wish to set on a g915 if I decide to go for it):
-
Multimedia play/next/prev for G keys (yes, that shouldn’t be a problem)
-
Calling external programs (
.bat
file executables) from G keys as well (this also should be relatively easy)
" the fun part"
-
Bind “H” for CapsLock (as to be a useful gaming key)
-
Set volume +/- for ScrollLock and PauseBack (yes, k95 has a volume scroll, but I found that having a “button” in many situations is more comfortable).
Also, how well does the “customization” pair with BT and "how did Logitech name their nonBT wireless feature)?
I have tried the Keychron(for the first and the last time… very bad impressions) and Roccat Vulkan (that one was my attempt at “no macro keys”, but Roccat’s customization turned to be “mentally special” when it comes to keyboards).
