I’m hunting around for projects for devember2026 and ran across a listing with a handful of old dell PC’s with Core 2 Duo’s in them
Are they too slow/old to do anything with??
Toss a drive or two in there, and they’d probably be fine as a backup target. Depending on where you’re located though power costs might be an issue, so if you(like me) are located somewhere with higher than average power costs you might want to consider using Wake on Lan or have something else like that in the mix as well.
If those machines come complete with a 15-ish year old power supply as well, then consider the possibility of those power supplies going out in a blaze of glory sooner rather than later and possibly taking those drives with it.
Short answer: yes
If they’re free then it can be fun to mess around with for XP
Maybe do a bsel pin mod on the CPU to overclock
