I've been thinking about this for a while and I'm wondering which one to buy because I can only afford 1. Please place some opinions so I can have a better understanding of which game is better.
P.S. I enjoyed both the Total War and COH series.

I dont know you, so cant really say.
But, I personally would go with Rome
Any reasons why, I just have a hard time with this one...
I preordered RTW2 on Greenmangamming on discount and with a like 20% of pre-order coupon. You can still get it there for a discount I think. I don't like the direction that the post MTW2 TW games have headed in, I think the trait and retainer system for generals is gone which is a big shame as it takes out alot of imersion. I don't even know if you have generals and family members anymore. Also they always go on about how much larger their maps are but alot of cities are gone.... I don't think it will be as enjoyable as RTW but it does have some improvements like Line-of-sight and terrain I think....
They've announced new factions for Rome 2. There's a complete roster of 16 factions, maybe more in the pipeline.
I hear that CoH2 is near the same as the first. Rome 2 is far different from many previous Total War games, you can see the improvements to the AI in the pre-alpha footage. Really excited for Rome 2, that is what I would choose.
I have to admit that it is my personal bias, I like RTS that focuses on the combat, then you have the turn based economy and diplomacy which is fun.
I dislike CoH because it isn't too different from many other RTS, I don't understand why everyone gets a boner over it. It played exactly the same as the Warhammer RTS, it isn't new. Rome 2 really sets itself apart, the units in Rome 2 don't have health bars and stuff like that. I prefer authenticity in comparison to some Age of Empires clone with a different skin. I do like base building somewhat... and unfortunately that is only found in an AoE/warhammer/CoH/command and conquer. So that's a plus for CoH, I guess.
And yeah, I can't believe people were skeptical about the line-of-sight feature. It's been needed for a long time. Really looking forward to this asymmetric warfare with ambushes and such!! There are fewer cities, and the map is very large. However, the cities which you can besiege and fucking huge, which just makes the game feel more epic. I wouldn't want to fight lots of tiny siege battles. There's plenty of territory to capture, but only the capitol cities of different regions will spark a huge siege.
If you play as the Romans and one of your armies suffers a defeat. You can try to recapture your golden eagle standards by defeating the army that previously beat you, that is how much depth they have added to the game.
6 days until release WOOOO
nein nein, it is seven. Not out until next Tuesday.
Its 6 days and 11hrs exactly
Assuming it might be released at midday GMT, it would be exactly 7 days, correct to within 5minutes.
It is the stroke of midnight Monday/Tuesday night GMT? :o
No sleep for Berserker. No rest for my armies!
Prepare for battle!
well fuck why cant i see my picture? :0
Cino, if you don't know how to use acomputer, I believe you will fail at Rome 2. Just a little FYI
its not my fault! :O
I will not fail at rome 2 ;) My first game was The Lord Of the Rings Battle For Middle Earth and ITS MY FAV
I like that game. However, it is an example of a base building AoE clone.
Yap and also i would recommend Black&White 2,The Lord Of The Rings Battle For Middle Earth 2,Stronghold 2!
I liked Stronghold 2. It had a different flavour compared to AoE because it had that castle-sim/ castle-building to augment the experience.
Nothing can beat Stronghold Crusader.
