Chromium-based secrets usage utter dismay

Hi all.

I’ve been having an issue for the past few months where I’m not being prompted to use any of my saved passwords/credentials in my web browser of choice (currently Brave), on CachyOS w/ KDE.

The little autofill dialog you might expect to pop up when you select a UN/PW/address/etc input field just never comes up.
On right-clicking the input field, (e.g. for a password), there is an option “Select password…”, but clicking it does nothing.
The little key in the address bar does appear, and I can click on that, view the saved credential, and copy-paste from there (ugh), but again, it won’t autofill.
Since, I’ve tried on a nightly of Brave (installed separately for testing), and the same happens, and likewise with just bare Chromium.

However, the features do work on both Firefox and Librewolf.

I’ve asked about this in both the Brave forums (no conclusion) and the CachyOS forums (no correspondence of value was had there).
I’ve also tried running Brave with different --password-store arguments but that didn’t change anything (and I had to re-sign-in to a whole buncha stuff).

What should I do/try? This is starting to become very frustrating, as I more often than not have to type all of my credentials by hand as if they weren’t saved at all.
TIA!

Huh. And here I want to completely disable that in Brave from every popping up, and even when I turn off all the built in password manager options it still refuses to go away.

 can we swap places please

Literal months later, it works again.

Don’t ask me what the fuck happened or what I did, I have no idea.

(bet it stops working when I reboot…)

(nope! still works! how bout that!)
