I've got a spare 256GB Samsung PM851 here doing nothing and want to replace the hard drive in my wife's system since the load times for Fallout 4 are completely dire, she has a ITX system with a H81 chipset witch means there's no M.2 slot and since it's ITX there's no extra extra PCI-E slots to use a proper adapter either.
So I was looking on ebay for M.2 to SATA adapters and saw that Asian re-sellers sell them for as little as €2.50.
Does anyone know if these adapters are any good? I'm always very cautious about cheaply made things like this but adapting M.2 to SATA shouldn't be that difficult should it?
Here's the type of adapter I was looking at:
I am confident that it will work just fine.
The drive is SATA III, and all the PCB does is give you the right connectors, and appears to have some basic input filtering.
Solid caps on it, props to them for that.
Buying inexpensive things doesn't necessarily mean that it is "cheap". What does scares me about that card is that it has very little info posted.
I'm not promoting or condemning this particular item or FastTech. This item makes me feel more comfortable because it gives compatibility information. I don't care if it's redundant noob info. (it needs to be useful though)
there is nothing on that pcb that should be expensive, 2 caps plus a transistor ? and two connectors. Its cheap when you buy it in bulk amounts.
That FastTech board looks awful with the SATA connector just hanging off the end of the board like that, not to mention is crooked.
I'm glad to hear, with these Asian sellers they usually offer free shipping like the one I posted.
It usually takes a month to receive anything from them but I'm more than patient enough and very rarely they go missing in the post but if they do they usually send out another one right away no questions asked
