Can Ryzen 7000 iGPU do 4k 120Hz 10bit HDR with LG C2 over HDMI?

Can it under Windows?

AMD’s spec page for these CPUs has no info on monitor support.

The reviews of 7000 CPUs don’t include this actually useful info (but many have gaming benchmarks for the iGPU, facepalm).
If it can, which motherboards support it? Asus and Gigabyte boards I checked say “HDMI 2.1” but 4k 60Hz max over HDMI.

Asrock b650e Steel Legend info page says: - 1 x HDMI 2.1 TMDS/FRL 8G Compatible, supports HDR, HDCP 2.3 and max. resolution up to 4K 120Hz

MSI PRO X670-P info page says: Support HDMI 2.1 FRL, maximum resolution of 4K 120Hz

But when I asked MSI support, they told “Regarding your concern, in theory, it can work, if you have these monitors, you can connect them for a try, then you can check them in OS.” Wow, how helpful. No response from Asrock yet.

And if it can do 4k 120 over HDMI, can do 1 or 2 more 4k monitors over DP ports?

LG C2 is such a good piece of hardware, and the price is very good here now, but the lack of at least one DP is such a pain in the neck.

No. It can do 120Hz with 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, which is ok for games and content but causes strange artifacts on text rendering.

At 10bit RGB you are limited to 60Hz.

This applies to my asus x670e proart, but I think it’s an iGPU limitation, not motherboard.

Well, this explains it. I guess I’ll run it at 4k60 for a while until I get a GPU with HDMI 2.1.

I plan to buy the Proart X670E with 7600X, could you please confirm that AMD iGPU (in Ryzen 7000) allows to manually switch from 8-bit to 10-bit color bitdepth @ 4k 60Hz via DisplayPort? I mean for standard SDR content (office/desktop), not HDR.

I have DELL U3223QE Monitor.

In windows yes, in Linux with gnome at least I don’t see that option. Though it will use the highest bitdepth available it seems like.

I tried also the Club3d one which did not work at all (maybe faulty? I RMAd it to amazon) and a Sabrent one that worked but overheated and cut out after 10 mins. I had even installed copper heatsinks ln it and it would still overheat! But yeah, the Cable Matters one works. VRR is even activated but it does not really do anything on Linux, software support seems to be lacking?

The displayport connector is an input, for passing a dGPU over the USB4 outputs. You can do displayport from the iGPU out of the USB4 ports, that’s what I’m doing, but you’ll need a USB-C to Displayport cable.
I’m currently doing USB4 to HDMI to run my LG C1 at 4k120 10bpc 4:4:4 with the 7950X iGPU on an X670E ProArt, it works fine on Linux but has a lot of flickering in windows. One of those rare cases where graphics driver is better on Linux than its Windows counterpart. No FreeSync this way though. I could get FreeSync if I use the HDMI connector instead, but then Linux wouldn’t get 4:4:4, because the HDMI consortium are utter gits.
