Can i run an 8350 with Stock Heatsink and fan?

Just as the topic suggests i am most likely going to get an fx 8350 and i am wondering if im not going to OC too high (maybe 4.5Ghz) can i just run the stock heatsink/fan. Even if i do NO overclocking do you still suggest aftermarket fan?

If you aren't overclocking, your fine. I would suggest an aftermarket cooler either way.

for 30 bucks a 212+ is a wise decision, word is stock sucks! And I am using a FX-6300 or spend 50$ and get something better.

I would not use the stock cooler for any attempt at overclocking!

if you're going to 4.5 don't use the stock, if you don't oc you're perfectly fine

though i like to reccomend a hyper 212 if for no other reason than it's insanly quite

Upgrading the fan is a good choice for any CPU as the higher the temperatures on the CPU the lower the life (typically), however using the stock fan will not hurt it any, but you will need to be careful with overclocking, and pay close attention to your temps. Back to the point though, stock heatsink and fan are fine, but if you got the cash upgrade.

i am just worried about the installation of thermal paste/fan iv only put in a cpu once and used the stock fan. it was very simple :p

also there is the cooler master 212 and the 212 evo is the evo considered any better for almost double the price?

The stock cooler sucks. even at stock clocks that little fan screams under load. Bot intel and AMD stock coolers are junk and i never use them in a build.

Off Newegg there is only 5$ price difference...

The evo makes slightly different contact with the CPU... So of course mileage will very based on the rest of the airflow in your case and such other factors... but I've seen the EVO beat the Plus by upwards of 10 degrees but generally it tends to be less than 5...

So is it worth double the price for you... maybe not...

You may also consider the Noctua NH-U14S, or Xigmatek Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition instead, they're a bit more pricey, at least for me, but if you can get them at the price of the EVO where you're at... it be worth it...

well the stock cooler does not realy suck i run the stock cooler on my FX8350 at 4.2 ghz stock, and it does the job, only wenn pushing the cpu, it gets realy loud and that could be annoying. but my cpu never went higher then 51 degrees even with prime.

But if you gonne overclock, then i would recommend a better aftermarket cooler, and i dont talk about the coolermaster hyper 212 evo, thats basicly a more silent cooler, but its not that great wenn you realy wanny go for a decent overclock to 4.5/4.6 i would recommend something like the Xigmatek Darknight Hawk II or Phanteks PH-TC12DX much better then the  cm hyper 212 evo. the hyper is only a bit more silent then stock and it cooles maybe a littlebit better but thats basicly all it is.

If you want to go into extremer overclockings on air cooling, i would recommend Noctua  NH-D14 or the Phanteks PH-TC14PE.

Stock fan is atrociously loud with any clock so I would replace it either way. And well, you can't get 4.5 GHz on it.
