Hi all, i am looking to upgrade my heat sink and i was wondering what heat sink can help me clock my CPU at 4 GHZ i was looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Will this heat sink allow me to get 4 ghz without ruining my processor. And if 212 EVO isn't good enough what would you recommend?
It depends. I would go with a better cooler. The Noctua ones are very good. The NH-U14S is incredibly good.
Really though what motherboard do you have? That and how lucky you get in the silicon lottery determines how high you can OC.
My FX-8350 was stable at 5.0GHz with a 212 EVO push-pull. I am 90% sure you could hit and hold 4.0GHz on an 8120. Still though, if you could spend more, go with a Noctua or something similar.

i think 4ghz should be able on the evo, however, if you could spend a bit more for a noctua, phanteks, Be quiet or other higherend cooling solution, that would offcourse be better.
I currently have an 8120 @ 4ghz and 1.35v with a Hyper 212 Evo in single fan config. Max temps at load are around 45C.
