Buying used PC worth it?

I wanted to put together something cheap to use for an HTPC, but a friend of a friend said he'd sell me his old rig for $150. Here are the specs:

abit ip35-e motherboard 

Core 2 duo 3.00 ghz 

wd 320 gig 7200 rpm hdd

4 gig ram

 

gt8500 video card 

 

And 500w power supp. As well as some random periphals. It sounds like a decent deal to me, I'll probably use it for xbmc, maybe some modding. I was also considering adding a 7850 i can get for cheap and i was wondering if the c2d would bottleneck or anything. Thanks for any input

$150 sounds like what its worth to me not a sweet deal or anything.
