I completely agree with this assessment. This morning I was feeling generous, and threw $5 to a new FOSS app I found on F-Droid via the project’s Ko-fi page. To a billionaire, $10M is not so dissimilar. The unethical inequality of wealth our society has created will undoubtedly multiply the lengths to which this donation will further the project, but the underlying social mechanism is the same.
