Building my first rig

Processor - i5 3570k

Cooler - Hyper 212 Evo

Mobo - Asrock z77 extreme4

GPU - Palit Geforce gtx 670 jetstream

HDD - 1TB seagate baracudda

RAM - 2x4 kingston hyperx memory 1600mhz

PSU - Coolermaster GX 650w

Case - Coolermaster 912 HAF

OS - Windows 8

an optical dfrive

BenQ 21.5" 1920x1080 monitor

Hyper 212 Evo may be replaced with an Antec Kuhler H20 620. I'm choosing Windows 8 because it is cheaper. if possible, i would like to reduce cost without sacrificing much performance. Suggestion would be much appreciated.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM ($59)

the Hyper 212 Evo will be better than one of those closed loop cooler crap kits :)

I'm afraid I won't be doing any online purchases. only windows 7 pro is available here.

Haf's are suck.

Could just not buy an OS and get one the way of Jack Sparrow.

Nah, i would not take the way of Jack Sparrow. How bout an Antec 300? or a CM 690II advanced.

Its hard to discuss since we dont know your overall budget

Oh, about a 1200 but lower if possible. prices are higher here in my place.

1200 dolars, euros, pounds, peanuts?

dollars.

Hi there, I like your build,  but there are some points to consider:
1) For gaming I recommend going for Windows 7 Pro.  If you like windows 8, it will do the job too.
2) there is no need to go all CM for the rest of the build, the 212 is great and the 912 is good for a first build, but you can grab a corsair/seasonic/antec/other nice branded PSU too.
3) I would prefer you save a little more and grab some nice 24" monitor, it is worth it, I am stuck with my 20" monitor now and I can't do anything.

at first i wanted a corsair psu but i found a CM one cheaper. How bout a 730w thermaltake for the same price?

Which model?
Remember you want to have a nice 80plus (bronce/ silver/ gold/ etc) Active PFC, nice strong single 12v rail :)
As you are on a budget rig I won't recommend a modular psu, but if you found one on rebate go for it!
CoolerMaster GX 650w 80 Plus Bronce is a good Psu! I was just saying that you don't have to settle with it if there are some options for the same price out there.

its a thermaltake smart 730w 80+. i don't reaaly mind if its modular or not. i won't be looking at the case that much anyway.

can you make an Nvidia one? im a bit on the green side here (and about 90% of the products in the store im buying at are Geforces)

I don't know much about that specific PSU, I only know it is from the Thermaltake value series while the GX is not a value psu, it is part of the CM gaming power supplies,
I believe any of this will be fine for your system requirements.

if i go for a CM GX 750w, it would still be cheaper than a corsair TX 750 for about 20 dollars, should i get a CM then? also, if i go down to a 660ti, will that have too much perf drop? i want this to last up to 3 or even 4 years. well atleast the gpu stays for my next build.

I would keep the GTX 670 on the list. It performs better than the 660ti, and as you know on a gaming rig the GPU is the most important thing, so no regrets  there ;).

go for the CM then, as long as you don't expect adding a lot fo fans, more HDD or changing the CPU/GPU 650w will be ok for the build and even for adding a nice SSD when you have the money.

for a $15 difference, i would go for the 750w

one more question, hyperx, sniper or ripjaws for RAM? all of those are exaclty the same price.
